Sarah joined the board five years ago to assist in fundraising for the Branciforte and Garfield Park branches. She is a native Tennessean and moved to California after a career with the foreign assistance agency (USAID) of the State Department serving in West Africa and Haiti. A big user of the public library as a child, she credits the Carnegie library in her hometown for opening her horizons. She was on staff of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation for a decade, retired, then moved to Santa Cruz where she was a global health consultant based part-time in Washington D.C., carrying out short-term assignments around the world. After retiring again, she makes her full-time home with her chihuahua in the Seabright area where she enjoys hiking and gardening, pilates and yoga and volunteering. She has worked with neighbors to establish a dedicated chapter of the Friends to support the Branciforte branch.
