What if your lunch break could feel like an escape? Every month, the Santa Cruz Public Library’s Downtown Branch opens its Community Room doors to something a little different: a free, live concert tucked into the middle of the workday.
The series is called Munching with Mozart & Friends — and the name says it all. Bring your lunch, find a seat, and let the music wash over you. No tickets, no dress code, no fuss. Just forty minutes of live performance in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz.
This month’s featured artist: Renata Bratt, cello. Renata is a rare kind of musician — equally at home in jazz, Celtic, Americana, and classical traditions. She plays and teaches across Santa Cruz and around the world, and has authored books for cello as well as music for string orchestra.
Coming up in the series
May 15 Low Notes on a High Level — Neil Fairbairn, bassoon & Ivan Rosenblum, piano
Jun 26 Unaccompanied — Joel Schaefer, cello
Jul 17 Romances — Carol Panofsky, oboe & Lynn Kidder, piano
Munching with Mozart & Friends is free and open to all. Admission is never required — just show up, settle in, and let the afternoon unfold a little more beautifully than planned.

Munching with Mozart & Friends is sponsored by the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries and the Santa Cruz County Music Teachers’ Association of California.
