Friends of Santa Cruz Libraries

Branch Committee Friends have a special connection to their local Santa Cruz Public Library Branch. Friends support their branch and the whole library system with activities such as fundraising events, supporting library literacy and other key programs to support life-long learning, enhancing library collections and equipment, and participating in community outreach and advocacy to increase public support for our libraries and expand public understanding of what our libraries do.

The mission of the Friends is to support the Santa Cruz Public Libraries through fundraising, volunteer services, and advocacy. The Friends are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels of leadership.

Board Member opportunities are open, too. Contact Board President Janis O’Driscoll for more information.

Purpose of Volunteer Service

The mission of the Friends is to support the Santa Cruz Public Libraries through fundraising, volunteer services, and advocacy. The Friends are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels of leadership.

Volunteers support the library system by assisting with activities such as:

  • Provide funding to support branch library programs, Library system Literacy Fund programs, and collections/equipment requested by the Santa Cruz Public Libraries
  • Through Library collaboration, initiate, execute, and fund Library programs and events for adults (defined as educational and recreational opportunities/services to support lifelong learning, personal enrichment, and community engagement through access to information, resources, and cultural experiences).
  • Participate in public community outreach events and planned advocacy actions to increase public support for our libraries and expand public understanding of what our libraries do.
