Gale is a lifelong reader, so naturally she became a librarian. She has worked at multiple libraries, including 25 years with the Santa Cruz Public Libraries, where she was a children’s librarian, fiction selector, head of Outreach (including the bookmobile and jail services), in addition to several management positions. Volunteer experience includes being a guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and programmer at KAZU public radio. A Californian by choice, Gale loves the ocean and will dip her toes in any available body of water. Along with reading, she enjoys traveling, including annual Yosemite visits, listening to music, and spending time with her family and cats. Clearly, she does not grasp the concept of retirement, since she has been chair of the Aptos Friends since “retiring” from the library.
