If you’re looking for a peaceful escape this spring, look no further than the Scotts Valley Library. Now through June 25, local photographer Sylvia Valentine is showcasing her stunning nature photography exhibit, Art as Sanctuary, in the library’s gallery space.
Valentine’s work captures the quiet majesty of the natural world — from the sweeping, sun-dappled canopy of ancient oak trees to the subtle beauty found in everyday landscapes. Her photographs invite viewers to slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover the world around them.
“My photography is a reflection of what my heart connects with in the moment. Sylvia means “Maiden of the Woods” and I feel at home in nature. I love capturing the Spirit of a place, experimenting with different angles and light to explore unique perspectives.”
Want to meet the artist? Join us for a special Artist’s Reception on Friday, April 18 from 2–4 PM. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with Sylvia, hear about her creative process, and take in the work up close.
The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours.
