Santa Cruz Public Libraries is hosting writer, poet, and grief psychotherapist Molly Salans at the Capitola Branch Library on Sunday, April 12 at 2:00 PM. She’ll be discussing her award-winning novel, A Break in the Fog, and sharing the remarkable personal history behind it.
Before becoming a therapist, Molly spent seven years as a member of a prominent cult. She left in 1982, but the experience stayed with her — and eventually found its way onto the page. A Break in the Fog is a psychological fiction novel centered on a dysfunctional family’s journey toward redemption. While the story isn’t autobiographical, Molly’s firsthand understanding of cult dynamics shapes every page. Her goal is simple: she wants readers to walk away with hope.
At the event, Molly will separate fact from fiction, reflect on what she lived through, and open the floor for questions about all things cult. Copies of the book will be available to purchase and get signed, and light refreshments will be provided.
Attendance is free. Registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Sign up through the SCPL calendar: santacruzpl.libnet.info/event/15754313
