Scotts Valley Library Friends

Welcome!

The Scotts Valley Library Friends is a group of community members offering volunteer services, fundraising, and advocacy for the Scotts Valley Branch Library and its programs.

We raise funds to enhance library programs, support the librarians, and buy supplies to improve accessibility. Some of the activities we support include maker labs, art classes, neurodiverse learner supplies, and the puzzle program. In addition, we organize author talks, open mic nights, and book sales, and host county-wide Our Community Reads programs. We work closely with the library staff.

What’s Happening?

Over the past several years, the Scotts Valley Library Friends have hosted a vibrant mix of literary, artistic, educational, and family-oriented events to enrich the community and support the library.

Regular author talks feature local and debut novelists, while monthly Writers’ Open Mic nights and the annual Our Community Reads program with book-discussion events and student contests keep literature alive.

Art exhibitions rotate, showcasing everything from Scotts Valley High School student work to post-CZU fire recovery pieces, staff creations, and the work of local artists complete with artist receptions.

Families enjoy the popular Summer Reading Program, Story Strolls, Pages & Popcorn movie nights, seasonal holiday celebrations, and game nights, alongside maker labs and art classes funded by the Friends. Ongoing book sales, puzzle lending, and movie screenings round out a diverse calendar that draws hundreds of participants each year, all made possible by volunteers and donations.
