The Ripple Effect Arts Festival Brings Creativity and Connection to Santa Cruz County

From April 16–26, 2026, Santa Cruz County will come alive with artistic energy as the Ripple Effect Arts Festival launches its inaugural 11-day, countywide celebration of creativity. Designed to showcase the region’s rich and diverse arts scene, the festival invites residents and visitors alike to explore performances, exhibitions, workshops, and interactive experiences across multiple venues.

Highlight Exhibition with the Felton Library Friends: “The Road I Call Home”

Among the many featured events is “The Road I Call Home,” a compelling photography exhibition by Randy Bacon, hosted by the San Lorenzo Valley Museum at the Belardi Gallery and the Felton Branch Library.

Opening with a public reception on April 23, this exhibition offers a deeply human perspective through portraiture that captures resilience, identity, and belonging. As part of the broader festival it exemplifies Ripple Effect’s mission to use art as a bridge, connecting people to stories, places, and each other.

A Countywide Celebration of the Arts

Taking place during California’s Arts, Culture & Creativity Month, the festival will feature an expansive lineup of events spanning visual art, music, dance, theater, poetry, and more. Programming is designed for all ages, offering everything from hands-on workshops to large-scale performances.

The festival kicks off with a “Dancing in the Streets” event in downtown Santa Cruz and culminates in a Grand Finale at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, creating bookends of celebration that reflect the region’s creative spirit.

Between these anchor events, venues throughout the county – from galleries and museums to wineries and public spaces – will host a wide range of experiences that encourage exploration and discovery.

Art as a Catalyst

What sets Ripple Effect apart is its emphasis on collaboration and accessibility. The festival is grassroots and volunteer-driven, with participation from a wide range of local partners. By bringing together artists and organizations across disciplines, it fosters unexpected partnerships and innovative experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity.

Equally important is its commitment to accessibility. With a mix of free and ticketed events, the festival ensures that art remains available to a broad audience, reinforcing its belief that creativity should be shared by all.

Supporting a Creative Economy

Beyond its cultural impact, the festival plays a critical role in supporting Santa Cruz County’s creative economy. By attracting visitors from across the region and encouraging local participation, Ripple Effect helps sustain artists, small businesses, and cultural institutions.

This infusion of energy and visibility comes at a time when many in the arts community face ongoing challenges, making the festival’s mission of collective support especially meaningful.

Come Curious. Leave Connected.

As its tagline suggests, the Ripple Effect Arts Festival invites participants to “come curious” and “leave connected.” Whether attending a gallery opening, participating in a workshop, or experiencing a live performance, visitors are encouraged to engage deeply with the art and with one another.
